For a while in late 2001 the Hispanics were meeting in the sanctuary on Saturday night, but they really wanted a place of their own to meet on Sunday mornings. Work was begun in early 2002 on the new area dedicated for the Hispanic ministry.  With the help of the Hispanic committee and lots of "elbow grease" there is now a room dedicated and decorated for their use.  They now have their own services in Spanish every Sunday morning in their own chapel.

The work was finished in the spring of 2002 - just in time for a fiesta to celebrate Cinco de Mayo as well as dedication of the new area. Everyone had a wonderful time with the dedication attended by a standing room only crowd of all those who supported them from the Sidney Church, the Presbytery, the Synod and the Hispanic Community in the surrounding area. There was excellent food prepared by the women of the Hispanic community and great fellowship, while everyone listened to the wonderful music of Baldemar Valazquez and Jessi Ponce.

They continue to participate in the life of the church family of First Presbyterian    by meeting jointly in the main sanctuary the first Sunday of each month for communion.

The Hispanic Group is looking forward to growing in all aspects of their ministry.  If you would like more information or are interested in joining our group, please contact Agusto Medina.
